Make food part of the itinerary
At a coastal resort, dining decisions shape the day as much as beach plans. Breakfast can be an easy starting point before a walk; a leisurely lunch can replace an afternoon excursion; dinner on site can simplify a late arrival. Maestral has resort dining and bar options, but current outlets, menus and service hours should be checked directly for your travel dates.
Rather than choosing a meal package automatically, sketch the holiday you want. If you expect to explore Budva and the surrounding coast most days, flexibility may matter more than prepaid convenience. If the aim is a largely resort-based break, having meals close to the room can remove a surprising amount of everyday planning.
Breakfast: inclusion matters more than labels
Check whether breakfast is included in the specific rate you are booking, not simply whether the hotel serves it. Two offers for the same room category can have different meal arrangements. Ask about service times if you have an early airport transfer, an excursion departure or children who eat earlier than the rest of the group.
A broad breakfast selection can suit mixed tastes, but buffet access does not by itself establish safe provision for an allergy. Where a dietary requirement is essential, ask what the kitchen can prepare separately and whether advance notice is needed. If breakfast is excluded, compare its current per-person charge with your likely use across the whole stay.
Resort dining versus eating nearby
Eating within the hotel offers a short journey back to your room and can be especially helpful on arrival night or during unsettled weather. It may also make group dinners easier when guests have different mobility needs. The compromise is that your choices remain tied to the outlets and menus operating during that particular period.
Pržno’s waterfront setting gives a stay a village dimension beyond the hotel. Nearby dining can offer a change of scene, while a visit to Budva creates a wider evening outing. Seasonal businesses may keep different hours outside the busiest months. Check a venue’s current menu, accessibility and opening arrangements before making the journey, and plan your return transport if you leave Pržno.
Read the menu beyond the headline price
Montenegro uses the euro. When comparing meals, look at drinks, side dishes and any disclosed cover or service charges as well as the main course. Fish may be priced by weight rather than as a fixed portion; ask for the expected weight and total cost before ordering. An appealing menu description does not always communicate the eventual bill.
No menu prices are quoted here because a static figure would be a poor substitute for the current menu. Ask whether a half-board or other meal arrangement, when available, covers a set menu, buffet or dining credit. Establish which outlets participate and whether beverages are included. A package only represents value if its conditions match how you actually intend to eat.
Dietary requests need a conversation
For allergies, explain the ingredient involved and whether cross-contact is a concern. Ask about shared preparation surfaces, fryers, serving utensils and sauces rather than relying solely on an icon beside a dish. Carry an appropriate written explanation if a language barrier could make a medical requirement difficult to communicate.
Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and religious dietary requirements call for different questions. A restaurant offering vegetables is not necessarily able to provide a complete suitable meal, and a gluten-free ingredient does not establish a separate preparation process. Contact the resort before travel when food provision will determine whether the stay is workable. We cannot verify kitchen procedures or guarantee any dish’s suitability.
Keep the evening easy
Reserve important dinners directly, especially for a celebration or a larger party. Ask about the dress expectations, outdoor seating, weather alternatives and cancellation conditions. A terrace request may depend on conditions on the evening rather than being guaranteed at booking.
For a balanced stay, consider keeping arrival dinner simple, leaving one evening open for exploring and saving a planned occasion for a night without an early departure. Our events guide covers group coordination, while the location guide helps put nearby outings in context. For current dining arrangements, consult Maestral directly, opens a new tab.
