05 / Location & Arrival

A bay to come back to.

Pržno offers a coastal base near Budva, with the journey and the day trips best planned on their own terms.

Where Maestral fits on the coast

Maestral Resort & Casino is in Pržno, a coastal village in the municipality of Budva, Montenegro. It is not in Budva’s old town, and that distinction matters when choosing your base. Pržno centres on a small bay and a more compact village setting; Budva offers a larger concentration of urban services and evening activity.

Choose Pržno if returning to the coast is part of the appeal and you are comfortable arranging transport for some outings. If you want to walk out into Budva’s old town every evening, factor in the repeated journey rather than treating the two places as interchangeable. Check the resort’s location against your planned activities before making a non-refundable reservation.

Choose the airport with the whole journey in mind

Tivat and Podgorica are Montenegro’s principal international airport options. Which works best depends on available flights, arrival time, luggage and the onward transfer rather than airport distance alone. A convenient flight schedule can outweigh a longer road journey, especially when travelling with children or arriving late.

Dubrovnik Airport in Croatia may also appear in flight searches for the wider region, but using it introduces an international border crossing. Check entry requirements for both countries, rental-car cross-border permissions and the transfer provider’s arrangements. Border queues and seasonal road traffic make a fixed journey-time promise unreliable.

Consult current airline schedules and airport information before booking. This guide does not quote guaranteed transfer durations or fares. Build a margin into your return journey, particularly when travel involves a border, a busy coastal road or a time-sensitive flight connection.

Transfers, taxis and driving yourself

A pre-arranged transfer can simplify arrival when you have several bags or an unfamiliar route. Request the full price, meeting point, waiting policy, luggage allowance and any child-seat provision in writing. If your flight is delayed, establish whether the driver monitors arrival information and how to make contact after landing.

A rental car offers flexibility for exploring beyond the immediate coastline, but it also creates parking and navigation responsibilities. Ask Maestral about current parking arrangements, charges and vehicle access before assuming that a space is included. Check your rental agreement for insurance excesses, additional drivers and travel restrictions.

When using a taxi, agree how the fare will be calculated before departure and use a legitimate service. For any transfer option, provide the full resort name and Pržno location; simply saying “Budva” may not identify the intended destination precisely enough.

Explore nearby without overplanning

The coastline around Pržno, Miločer and Sveti Stefan is a natural area to consider for a walk. Conditions, access arrangements and permitted routes can change, particularly around managed properties and beaches. Follow signs and do not assume that a route visible on a map is open to the public throughout its length.

Sveti Stefan’s distinctive island setting is a recognisable coastal landmark, but a view of the island is different from permission to enter it. Confirm current access separately rather than building a day around an assumed visit inside. Wear suitable shoes, carry water and consider the return journey as well as the outward walk.

Budva’s old town is another possible outing for a change of scene. Allow time for the transfer and the walk from your drop-off point. For visitors with mobility needs, historic paving and steps deserve more attention than the apparent distance between attractions.

Small arrival details with a large payoff

Montenegro uses the euro. Check your mobile provider’s roaming terms because European Union roaming arrangements do not automatically apply in Montenegro. Download useful directions in advance and keep the resort’s direct contact details available offline. If arrival is likely to be late, notify the property and ask about check-in and food options.

Review passport, visa and insurance requirements using official sources appropriate to your nationality. For the resort’s own arrival details, visit Maestral’s official website, opens a new tab. You can also open the property search in Google Maps, opens a new tab; third-party routing is guidance, not a guarantee of access or travel time.
